super slow SST - anything to be done?

Hi all,

DB size is 500 GB. xtrabackup-v2 SST is taking extremely long. It's taking longer to prepare (apply-log for about 12 hours and going) then it did to copy the data (which was about 7 hours).

Is there a better way to do this or to make this process faster?
