Jason,

The error you pasted here points to the problem in moving the ibd files around. From what I see xbstream is used. Do you stream the data locally or over the network? If it's over the network then maybe the problem lays in the TCP layer? Are you expecting any other network-related issues? Is it possible for you to run the backup storing the data on the node? Just to verify if it's a network issue or something else. What OS do you use? Which MySQL and xtrabackup version do you have installed?

It works with mysqldump over the network

I am also having this issue

Running my cluster on AWS and have a machine in the same zone but getting the error.

running amazon linux. no issues doing a mysql dump.

please let me know what information i can provide to help you with this
